Tarot cards, those cards with beautiful illustrations printed on each card, probably originated in northern Italy in the late FOURTEENTH century or early FIFTEENTH. While they don’t say the future, they can help provide spiritual guidance and help a person connect to their inner self and find clarity about a given situation.
The covers can illuminate the past and the present, and also design some of the directions they can take. Owner of the company holistic wellness Soul ed Out, Gaye Weintraub said:
The covers are best used as a tool of inner wisdom and guidance, because the readings will give a person an idea of the events past, current, and future based on the current path of the person at the time of the reading. Cards do not necessarily reveal what will happen, but allow a person to understand a situation and determine the best course of action based on what is known and what the cards show.
Although there is no right or wrong way to read tarot, it is useful to know some of the basics.
What’s on a Tarot Card Cover?
Tarot cards are a 78-card deck that provides spiritual guidance and promotes self-awareness and inner knowledge. Each card in the deck is significant in itself with each package divided into 2 types of Cards: major arcane and minor Arcane. The 22 letters from the senior Arcans (The Magician, The High Priestess, The Hierophant, the emperor, etc.) represent the spiritual forces at work that allow us to continue growing through the main challenges or opportunities of life. Some of the main cards include:
- Strength: our inner strength, resilience and discipline. This letter shows the need to remain calm and not surrender when faced with challenges.
- High Priestess: pause and reflection before taking action
- Temperance: balance and moderation
- Moon: lack of clarity or confusion regarding a situation
- The Magician: the potential and the greatest image
The remaining 56 cards from minor Arcans represent the decisions and actions you take during your day-to-day that may or may not lead you to your destination. The smaller Arcans are divided into 4 costumes that mean different aspects of our lives. For example:
- Rods (fire): relating to passion, action and energy
- Pentacles (Earth): symbolize our values, physical body, work, financial situation and other practical matters
- Cups( water): refers to relationships, love and our emotions
- Swords (air): they are connected to truth, intelligence and conflict
Each minor stick has 14 cards:, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, plus 4 letters of cut: page, Knight, Queen, King. The court cards represent our current energy or the people in our lives. Each card has its own meaning, but is related to the other cards you draw within the propagation.
