Having a list of psychic abilities and knowing how they work is a necessity if you are interested in learning about different types of extrasensory perceptions or the development of your intuitive gifts.
The main types of psychic abilities are what we call the croutons. These are the ways we receive intuitive guidance.
In the physical world we receive information in many different ways. For example, if I wanted to invite you to a party I could:
- phone calls
- send a text message
- send you an email
No matter how you received the information, the final result is the same: you are informed about the party.
It’s the same with our intuitive gifts. He can receive psychic messages in many different ways. Pretty good, huh?
With a little practice, anyone can learn to harness and strengthen their psychic abilities. Even you, of course!
You can have all the senses on our list of psychic abilities, or just one or two. With practice, you can learn to develop all your senses. Usually, one or two senses will be stronger than the others.
And if you feel uncertain, you can always call and talk to a psychic (affiliate). When I was a rookie and I was asking myself (Is this real or am I going crazy?!), Used to get readings with other psychics, too. There’s something special about getting a read When you’re on your psychic development trip, you know? 🙂 I had a wonderful reading here (and I love that the readings start at $ 10).
The Four Major Intuitive Skills
1. Clairvoyance-Clear Vision
Clairvoyance is an inner vision. It is the most well-known intuitive gift, but less understood in our list of psychic abilities.
I would describe it as seeing a little movie inside your head.
Someone who is clairvoyant is not necessarily seeing the future or having dramatic psychic visions as seen in the movies.
Rather, clairvoyance can be very subtle. For example, you can see a color, a number, or even a symbol. You may or may not understand what these images mean, and they are not always meant to be taken literally.
On the other hand, you can get a complete premonition. As the old saying goes, ” I saw that coming!”
Other terms for clairvoyance: third eye, psychic eye, psychic vision.
2. Clairsentience – Clear Sensation
Clairsentience is the ability to receive intuitive messages through feelings, emotions, or physical sensations. Empathy (feeling others ‘ emotions) is also a form of clairsentience.
Here is a great example of a clairsentience:
My daughter is fourteen years old and for the last two years, I’ve brought her up at home. Before that, she fought in school, in part, because she’s extremely empathetic and clairsentient. When someone is sad, angry, or ecstatic, they feel it.
She is so energy-sensitive that the school would leave her exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed.
You can feel that way, too. Whether you’re in school or at work, you may feel exhausted or capture the mood of the people around you. You may feel exhausted being around someone who is negative and it can be difficult for you to watch the news.
As a clairsentient, it can be very easy for you to know when someone is lying to you – you can only feel it in some way. And you can even feel the physical ailments of others.
Other common terms for clairsentience: empathetic, spiritual empathetic or intuitive
3. Clairaudience – hearing clearly
No list of psychic abilities would be complete without clairaudience.
Clairaudience is a way to receive intuitive messages without using physical ears. I know, that sounds weird. Let me explain.
Think of clairvoyance as an internal audience. For example, you may suddenly hear that little voice inside you say, ” go right!”o” stop!”.
When a highly sensitive person, such as a psychic or medium, is clear-sighted, he can hear things that others cannot, such as spiritual voices, sounds and even music.
For example, spiritual means are often clareful and can hear words, phrases and names of those who have passed away.
Most of the time, the medium will hear the Spirit speak within his own head in his own voice (it sounds like when you are reading in silence). Sometimes the medium can also hear the real voice that the spirit had when they were living.
Common Error About Clairaudience:
Suppose you and some friends think you hear a spiritual voice in your house. This is usually not considered a clairaudent experience because the sound was loud, so that everyone can hear it with their physical ears.
Personally, I feel that clairvoyance is the most interesting of all extrasensory perceptions in our list of psychic abilities. My favorite memory of clairvoyance was when I was doing a reading for a client and I heard the message clearly, say hello to Bobo! Turns out Bobo was the family mascot.
4. Claircognizance – clear knowledge
Claircognizance is the ability to know something without logic or facts. It can help to think of it as an inner knowledge.
Like you know you shouldn’t trust your new neighbor or get on that plane, but you don’t know why, that’s claircognizance. It’s an important extrasensory perception, so it makes him the top four on our list of psychic abilities.
These claircognizant feelings can be very strong. They can also come in the form of intuitive thoughts that can appear in your head at random.
For example, my husband (who is not psychic) was driving on the road with some co-workers. He says he didn’t know why, but suddenly he knew he had to tell everyone to buckle up.
Less than five minutes later, his vehicle was behind finished behind by a car that goes 65 miles per hour. The seat my husband was sitting in broke in half.
This is a great example of an intuitive thought that comes through the form of claircognizance. I didn’t know why everyone had to buckle up, I just knew they had to do it right away!
But I could have gotten that intuitive message in another way. He could have had a vision of an accident. The same message, but received in a different way. That is the concept for you to understand here today as you read this list of psychic abilities.
Intuitive Skills Less Common
Did you know? Clair is the prefix of the French word which means clear.
Clairalience – smell clear
Funny name, huh? Clairalience is the ability to smell things outside the normal range of smell, such as the perfume of a loved one who has passed away.
Sometimes, a person in spirit will fill a room with a familiar smell so that their loved ones know they are close. My sister-in-law often smells of cigarette smoke that she associates with her father.
I don’t know how our loved ones in spirit do this, but many people find this phenomenon very comforting.
Clairgustance – tasting clear
The last on our list of psychic abilities is clairgustance. Clairustance is an internal tasting; that is, tasting without really putting anything in the mouth.
This form of extrasensory perception is sometimes experienced by the media when they give a reading.
The way it works is pretty simple. When a medium communicates with a spirit, they can begin to develop a particular taste in their mouth. Therefore, if a person in spirit used to love to eat chocolate cake a medium who has this sense might taste chocolate cake.
Think how easy the diet would be if we could all do this. Oh joy!
